Massage

Christine Kostelnik offers a variety of massage therapy as outlined below.

Trigger Point Therapy

A trigger point is a tight area within muscle tissue that causes pain in other parts of the body.  Trigger points are caused by muscle overuse or injury,  because the tension is associated with moving parts, the pain is sometimes mistaken for arthritis. The result of trigger point therapy is to eliminate  toxins in the muscles and  release endorphins.  A decrease in pain is often found after just one treatment.

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is what comes to mind when most people think about massage.  The goal is to relax the entire body, accomplished by massaging the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood flow returning to the heart.  Additional techniques include circular pressure applied by the hands and palms, firm kneading, bending and stretching.  Cream or oil is often used to reduce friction and stimulate the skin. For increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension Swedish massage is for you.

Deep Tissue Therapy

Deep tissue therapy is comparable to Swedish massage with a twist to target knots and release chronic muscle tension.  Some other benefits include reduction of inflammation and aiding in the reduction   of scar tissue.  The focus is  the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons, and fascia (the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints). Using  strokes across the grain of the muscles, like no other massage. Deep tissue therapy may be slightly uncomfortable and cause soreness that lasts a couple of days before resulting in the desired relaxation and pain relief because of the deep friction and narrow base of compression sometimes used.

Sports Massage

Sports massage is geared toward athletes of every kind, from triathletes, bodybuilders to walkers.  The  massage is specific to your athletic sport of choice and often focused on the problem area ( knee, shoulder, sciatic impingement, and so on).   It is also great pre and post event preparation and reduce  recovery time.

Cranial Sacral Therapy

Cranial sacral therapy  is a delicate, noninvasive form of alternative medicine that deals with the movement of the fluid surrounding the skull and spine.  It lessons the constrictions of nerve pathways by focusing on the membranes that surround the central nervous system. While helping restore misaligned bones, back to the state of proper alinement,  helping to eliminate the effects of stress and provide relief from migraine headaches, neck and back pain,TMJ and more.

Hot Stone Therapy

Hot Stone Therapy melts away tension, eases muscle stiffness, and increases circulation and metabolism three times longer than a regular massage. The placement of smooth, water-heated stones are used to massage the body and key points on the body for deeper relaxation of the muscles.

Hot Stone Therapy is ideal for:

  • Muscular aches
  • Arthritis
  • Back pain
  • Poor circulation
  • Stress and anxiety
  • And more
