Dr. Arike Logan, M.D.
Education and Practice
Dr. Arike Logan attended the University of Memphis for undergraduate work where she completed her BS degree in three years. She completed Medical School at the University of Illinois at Chicago in the top 15% of a class 450. During her academic career she received numerous scholarships and awards. These included a four-year National Medical Fellowship, a three-year Martin Luther King Scholarship, a Sears and Roebuck Scholarship, and the Oni Award for outstanding service to others.
Dr. Logan studied tropical medicine during her third year of medical school at the University of Lagos Teaching Hospital, Lagos Nigeria. After completing her studies She traveled the African continent studying the healthcare delivery systems in numerous countries. Her work included visits to Ghana, Liberia, Senegal, Tanzania, Kenya, Egypt, and Libya.
After postgraduate work at Martin L. King Hospital, Dr. Logan received board certification from American Board of Family Practice and entered private practice in Inglewood, CA where she enjoyed a flourishing practice in the 1980’s. In 1989 Dr. Logan relocated to Atlanta, GA and continued her practice in adult medicine.
For the past 7 years Dr. Logan has narrowed her focus to the practice of pain medicine and the practice of Wellness Medicine including disorders of nutritional deficiencies.
Community Service
Dr. Logan’s community service has been extensive including but not limited to the following: Founding President and director, International Coalition of Women Physicians (ICWP). ICP’s target is to uplift the health and quality of life for women, children, their families, and their communities. Founding member and director, Atlanta Ujima Mission to which mentored and sent high school students to Ghana.

Recruited doctors and raised funds for famine in Ethiopia. She traveled to Ethiopia and worked in the famine camps there treated sickness and helping to provide other services.

Philosophy of Medicine
Dr. Logan’s philosophy of medicine is to focus on prevention of illness, minimizing of suffering, as well as healing. She believes that every day should be lived to the fullest and that includes minimization of psychological and physical suffering. She has always addressed the whole patient rather than one focused area. She has extensively studied the pitfalls of the “standard American diet” which she calls the “SAD”. Her organization the ICWP is focused on Prevention through addressing the problems with the food and agriculture practices. She encourages healthy living, fitness, stress reduction, and the use of all modalities available to heal sickness and ameliorating suffering.
Dr. Jay Bender, M.D.
We are pleased to announce the association of Jay Bender, M.D. to the Pain Relief Clinic MD facility. Dr. Bender is Board certified in Physiatry & Pain Management. Dr. Bender specializes in non-operative treatment of chronic and acute pain syndromes. Procedures include cervical, thoracic and lumbar epidurals, facet and sacroiliac joint injections, stellate ganglion blocks, lumbar sympathetic injections. Radiofrequency ablations, arthrograms in all joints, discograms, EMG/NCS, IME exams, and disability evaluations. Both his peers and patients know him as a caring, compassionate and excellent clinition.
Dr. Bender has a keen awareness of the need for a comprehensive pain management program, which is offered at the Pain Relief Clinic MD.
