Chronic pain is a serious illness and should be treated by a pain specialist, whose specialty is pain management.

It’s important to understand the pain and be able to communicate well to your doctor so that you can get the right diagnosis and right treatment for the pain. It helps to keep a journal. In it, keep all this complex information about your pain, so that when you come to seek help, you will have the information needed for the best diagnosis and best treatment.

An acronym that is helpful:

L. O. C. A. T. E. S.

L: Location Of The Pain - Whether it travels to other parts of the body.
O: Other Symptoms - Maybe you have nausea or numbness and weakness
       along the pain.
C: Character Of The Pain - Has it been throbbing, is it sharp, dull or burning?
A: Aggravating And Alleviating Factors - What makes it better or worse?
T: Timing Of The Pain-How Long It Lasts - Is it constant or intermittent?
E: Environment, Where Does The Pain Occurs - Worse at work or at home?
S: Severity Of The Pain -This can be subjective. We like to use a pain scale of
0 to 10, (0) no pain to (10)worse pain ever.

It is important to communicate well so you can get the treatment you need. In order to help communicate better about pain, visit: healthierworld.net

Atlanta Georgia Pain Management ClinicOur goal as an Atlanta pain management clinic is to provide long-term and permanent pain relief when possible. In many conditions, permanent pain relief may not be possible but we will always strive to improve our patients quality of life. In cases where fibromyalgia treatment has been a dismal failure with only short term or no real relief at the hands of other pain management clinics, better than 70% of the time our results have been long term and occasionally provided permanent pain relief.

We have also achieved great results in providing long term pain relief from osteoarthritis of large joints including hips, knees & shoulders that last for months. If you have been suffering from back pain, fibromyalgia, arthritis, headaches, neck pain or any other types of chronic pain; Pain Relief Clinic, MD welcomes the opportunity to show you what sets us apart from other Atlanta pain clinics. Even if other pain clinics have not been able to treat your pain, please give us a call. For your long term relief and the best outcomes for a painful condition, your treatment should include understanding and addressing the underlying causes to restore normalization whenever possible. Jay Bender, M.D. considers the whole person when assessing and treating a patient.

Our Approach to Pain Management

Atlanta_GA_Pain_Management_Our pain management program combines traditional medical care (i.e. medication, injections, etc.) with groundbreaking and patented therapeutic technologies which are one of kind .We have found that most patients can feel much better and sustain a higher quality of life than they ever thought possible. With Combination-Therapy™, we use therapy and injection solutions that provide the most beneficial results, with the least possible side effects. These approaches work most of the time.  If they do not provide the outcome we are looking for, we will then use cortisone as a last resort.  It has been our experience that a varying combination of medication/injections and soothing Wave Form Therapy brings the best pain relief for our patients. In most patients, restoring motion and activity is an integral part of a successful pain management plan.

Pain Management including physical medicine considers the nerves, muscles, and skeletal system along with physiology (how the body is functioning). Health care professionals are learning there is far more that can and should be done for the effective healing of chronic pain conditions. If you are suffering from pain we will work to alleviate as quickly as possible but will work to determine what underlying issues are playing a part in causing your pain. In the end it’s about giving our patients a better quality of life and we will utilize every tool available to us to achieve it for them.
